Drabbles, round three
I still owe two more. They're coming.

But for tonight --

For [info]lerdo.

Title: Winds of Change
Fandom: Bones
Characters: Angela/Hodgins
Word Count: 100
Notes: I have no idea. This is what came after I stared at the lyric for a bit (and then for a bit longer). *headtilts* Yeah, I don't know. And I can't believe that I didn't end up writing Booth/Brennan. So ... anyway. Here 'tis, S. Enjoy?

And for [info]heyurs (request 1 of 2, my demanding dear)

Title: Plan B
Fandom: Twilight
Characters: Edward, Alice
Word Count: 100

Drabbles, round two
Round two of fulfilling those drabble requests!

For [info]pamalax - I hope you enjoy.
Title: The Next Step
Fandom: Prison Break
Characters: Mahone
Word Count: 100
Author's Note: I’ve never tried this character before, and I’m wibbly about the result. At any reason, this is set during or just after the S3 finale.

And then for [info]dragonsangel68.

Title: The Problem with Puffskeins
Fandom: Harry Potter
Characters: Draco/Ginny, Lucius
Word Count: 100

Drabbles, round one
For [info]rainpuddle13, because she is the ebilest ebil there is, because she was first, and ... well, just because.

So.

Title: Advice
Fandom: Twilight
Characters: Edward, Alice, Rosalie
Word Count:
100
Author's Note: I wrestled this one down to 100 words -- it could easily have been longer, but then it would have to get in line with all the other misbehaving plot bunnies. So 100 words it is.

And this one's for [info]akaibara.

Title: Secrets Revealed
Fandom: Grey's Anatomy
Characters: Callie/Erica
Word Count:
100
Author's Note: This prompt made me go googly-eyed, as in, "Wow, I don't know if I can do that justice." And I'm not sure I have, but at any rate ...

And now for something completely unoriginal!
I semi-failed the last time I tried this -- [info]lerdo, don't give up on me, it WILL get done -- but I think the word limit will help. Therefore, a meme, seen absolutely everywhere.

I will write a drabble (100 words exactly) for the first ten people to comment and ask for one. In return, you must post this in your journal--if you feel so inclined. You may request the character and/or pairing - though I can't promise I will write them in a relationship - for the following fandoms:

HP, Twilight, Prison Break, Bones, Grey's Anatomy

O hai I wrote dis
I should feign a little embarrassment at the title of this post, but I'd be lying. It's been that kind of day -- that kind of WEEK, actually -- and I will cling to any bit of levity. So. That said, the reveal is done at [info]dgficexchange, and so I can say a little more than "hey, I wrote something!"

So here it is, my exchange fic, at long last. I wrote it frantically, which means there are rough edges in need of smoothing, and plot holes big enough to lose an elephant in, and still I can say that I'm happy to have written it. More for the sense of accomplishment (HELLO, I FINISHED SOMETHING) than anything else.

And thank you very much to [info]jandjsalmon, who was kind enough to honor me with a mod's choice award. It meant -- means -- a lot.

Title: Under the Night Sky
Fandom: Harry Potter
Pairing: Draco/Ginny
Rating: R
Summary: After the war, Ginny Weasley is prepared to wage a battle of her own - to fight for forever with the man she loves.

Death by fic (not a bad way to go)
I finished my [info]dgficexchange entry, which is worth a big fat yay on several counts.

1. I turned it in on time. With an entire hour to spare.

2. It's the first thing I've finished in ... a really long time. I think I'm still too brain-dead to know how I feel about it, but ... it's done. And I hated doing it, and it was so much fun. I know most of you understand exactly what I mean.

And thanks are in order. To [info]applecede, for the nefarious plotting. To [info]rainpuddle13, for all the pats and encouragement. And a double dose of gratitude to [info]adrith and [info]theliningsilver, who actually read the thing.

I wrote fic! Funny, isn't it, how that just makes me want to do more.

Last of the left-behinds
This is the last fic that I've officially abandoned. This one was meant to be more humorous than anything (well, all right, smutty AND humorous) ... had I kept going, poor Draco would have been subjected to wearing an increasingly ridiculous costume. Keeping that in mind, maybe it's best I left off where I did. This snippet doesn't go above an R, and it is, of course, firmly Draco/Ginny.

More orphaned fic
Another of those fics I thought I was really invested in, and the idea just didn't flesh out the way I'd hoped.

It's Meredith/Derek from Grey's Anatomy, set immediately after the Season 3 finale.  Rated E for entirely innocent. At least in the part I got around to writing.

A bit of nothing
It doesn't have a title, or even a purpose. It's an exercise, and I'm posting it because I promised myself I'd do more writing this year. I didn't resolve to do it; I'm doing it. If you're interesting in seeing the photo it sprang from, head this way.

Title: Sweeter Than
Rating: G
Characters: Draco/Ginny
Words: 200
Spoilers: None! Flies in the face of the DH epilogue!
A/N: For [info]dragonsangel68, who prompted me with D/G and missing candy canes. I haven't written HP in quite some time, so I hope this doesn't disappoint.

Nearly perfect, Ginny decided, surveying the lavishly decorated tree. It amused her greatly that her next thought was how to improve her efforts. Since when was nearly perfect a failing of any sort?

Since Draco.

With a secret smile at how little she minded his exacting standards, she turned in search of the candy canes she’d set aside earlier, only to find the plate empty. No house elf would have disturbed them, she knew, and that severely limited the pool of suspects. An amused smile curved her lips, and she padded down the hallway to her husband’s study.

The door was ajar, and she could hear the sounds of muffled merriment inside. Ginny forced a stern expression onto her face and pushed the door open, fully intending to scold Draco for thieving the sweets she’d intended as decorations.

The mock lecture died on her lips as she took in the scene before her. Draco was seated in his favorite leather chair, a bright smile on his face, and a candy cane in each hand.

One for him, and one for the blond miniature happily ensconced on his lap. He’d swiped the candy to share with his son.

This was perfect.

Looking back
Belatedly (and appropriately so, given my posting habits for the last year), I'm reviewing 2007, as seen from my LJ. Here's the first sentence I posted each month. Or didn't post, as the case may be.

January: Dear She Who Shall Not Be Named
February: So I had a job interview on Friday, and in the interest of not jinxing myself horribly the way I did last time, I'll leave it at that.
March: The tornado that hit Enterprise, Alabama yesterday touched down about four miles from John's mom's house.
April: If I'm only going to post once a month, I should have more to say, I suppose, but there's not much news from these parts.
May:
June: Got to don my honorary tiara this weekend in celebration of the big 2-8, which really doesn't wig me out.
July:
August:
September: As always, I'm still here.
October: For a multitude of reasons, I'm glad I'm not Britney Spears.
November: .. then insert meme here.
December: I had a very un-fun meeting yesterday, and it's sapping my will to do anything other than eat chocolate and mope.

I'm not off to a much more interesting start this year, but I have plans! And they involve honey!

An invitation for inspiration
I want to write, but my discipline has given way to distraction, so I'm stealing a very good idea from [info]lerdo and offering to let you boss me around.

(Writing-wise.)

Now accepting prompts for the following fandoms: HP, Bones, Grey's Anatomy, and Prison Break. You can give me an element, a quote, a picture ... anything to get me started. You may get a hundred words or a thousand, depending on how inspiration strikes, but I *will* write something if you ask me to.

I don't expect a lot of takers, so I'm not placing a limit on this.

Also: I really need a new mood theme. Any suggestions?

E is for Editor, not for Effort
I'll be finding a new dentist, it seems. I haven't actually been to the dentist in the last couple of months, which may make that first statement seem a bit odd. If I haven't been to the dentist, what's the problem?

The problem is that my dentist sent me a holiday card, as I'm sure he did to all his patients. It's a festive little card, with all the staff smiling their perfect smiles. That may encourage me to run out and buy whitening strips, but it's not the reason for my defection.

Splashed across the front of the card, in a shockingly yellow block of text that only Microsoft Word's Word Art tool could be responsible for, is my dentist's short, heartfelt holiday message to me.

"Merry Chirstmas!"

*sigh*

I had a very un-fun meeting yesterday, and it's sapping my will to do anything other than eat chocolate and mope. But it also made me remember that I meant to post these pictures weeks ago, as I promised [info]heyurs I would.

My chicken for your perusal -- from Halloween to her pre-birthday party the day after Thanksgiving. I  can't believe she'll be 2 on Saturday!

To the random blonde newlywed from lunch
Hi!!!!

I just wanted to clear things up between us. So there's no misunderstanding. See, I did as requested when I saw you in your car today. Like the window said: "Honk at me Im married!!!"

And it's true, I did honk - more than once, in fact - but in case the cockles of your bottle-blonde heart were warmed by that gesture, I thought I should clarify. The blaring of my car horn wasn't actually an expression of congratulations for your recently-wed state. Sorry.

I honked to enlighten you. You see, perky one, 'round these parts, when operating a motor vehicle, it is not the way of things to merge into traffic without looking, and then stop in the middle of the road for no apparent reason. Not only to stop, but then to stare around you as if you've no idea how you wound up in the street! Driving a car! And oh, is someone honking at me? Yes, I'm married!!! And it's the best! Well, except for when we got two toasters, and one of them isn't even the right one, and returning things is SUCH a pain, but yay presents! And everybody is honking at me because everybody loves a bride, which is so sweet. I bet I can get them to honk for my birthday, and my anniversary, too!

Honk if you feel sorry for my husband? Now that one I could get on board with.

(Yes, we can still be BFFs.)

XOXO,
Kerry
